In the aftermath of the High Court's decision to cancel the 2016 SSC panel due to corruption allegations, former judge and BJP candidate Abhijit Gangopadhyay launched a scathing attack on the state government, saying "CM should resign" during a press conference held on Monday.
He lauded the judiciary for its impartiality, stating, "Today the High Court has given an appropriate verdict. I bow down to Indian judiciary. This Judiciary is so sacred... there is always one or two Kulangars, this Judiciary works in the interest of citizens of India. I am very proud, I consider myself very lucky, to have served as a part of this judiciary for some time as a judge."
"I hope the shameless government will resign today. If I had the power, I would have pulled them down by the ears. I don't have that power. People have, people have. The vote has come, you will see what happens in the vote," says Gangopadhyay.
Additionally, he highlighted his interactions with government officials regarding the super numerary post, shedding light on the intricacies of the judicial process and the challenges faced in upholding justice. Meanwhile, the School Service Commission announced its intent to challenge the High Court's decision in the Supreme Court, with chairman Siddharth Majumder affirming, "Many were employed, all appointments cancelled, we are going to the Supreme Court."
