Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A pall of gloom has descended over the posh Urbana Complex in Kolkata's Anandapur area after a woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Sanchita Agarwal, a 44-year-old resident of the complex, was discovered with severe injuries, including a fractured skull and gashes on her right thigh. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community and prompted a police investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The body was first spotted at approximately 5:30 AM near Tower 4 of the Urbana Complex. The unconscious woman was immediately rushed to NRS Medical College & Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead at 10:05 AM. The police were notified, and a team from Anandapur Police Station arrived at the scene to begin their inquiry.
During the initial investigation, the victim's daughters, Suhana Agarwal and Bhumi Agarwal, identified the body as their mother, Sanchita Agarwal, wife of Rakesh Agarwal. The police then proceeded to question the family members and relatives to gather more information about the deceased's recent state of mind.
According to the family, Sanchita Agarwal was an "introverted person" who had been battling depression for the past few days. This information led the police to focus their investigation on the possibility of suicide. Further inquiries led to a critical discovery: a sitting tool was found on the balcony of the 19th floor of the 45-storey Tower 4, which is believed to be the spot from which she jumped.
The police have stated that, as of now, they have not found any evidence of foul play. No complaints have been lodged by the family or anyone else regarding the incident, which has been formally registered as a case of unnatural death (UD Case No. 142, dated 16.09.25). The police are making all necessary arrangements for an inquest and a post-mortem examination at NRS Hospital to determine the official cause of death.
