“Apology will flow automatically”; Akshay Kumar urges King Charles to watch Kesari Chapter 2

Actor Akshay Kumar is urging the British government and King Charles III to watch his upcoming film Kesari Chapter 2, which highlights the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 and the legal battle that followed. In a passionate statement during the film’s press conference, the actor expressed his deep connection to the event and the need for historical recognition.

Akshay plays the role of C Sankaran Nair, the lawyer who took on the British Empire in court after the brutal massacre. Speaking to the media, Akshay shared that his grandfather had witnessed the massacre firsthand and passed down the harrowing tale to his father, who then narrated it to him. “This event has been etched in my mind since childhood,” he said. “The most surprising thing is that history doesn’t tell us what we actually need to know.”

The actor emphasized that Kesari Chapter 2 is more than just a film—it is a historical reminder. He clarified that he is not demanding an apology but believes that if the British authorities truly see what happened, a sense of regret would naturally follow. “I'm not here with a begging bowl to say, ‘They should say sorry’. I just want them to watch the film. The apology is bound to happen, it will flow on its own.”

Directed with a focus on emotional realism and courtroom drama, the film’s trailer has already received attention for its haunting depiction of the massacre and the aftermath. The scenes of bloodshed, civilian trauma, and the legal pursuit of justice aim to bring to light a chapter of history often underrepresented in global narratives.

Kesari Chapter 2 also stars Ananya Panday as a passionate law student and R Madhavan as British officer Neville McKinley. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on April 18, with expectations high for its impact both cinematically and historically.

Akshay hopes the film will spark reflection in the UK. “They should see what happened. The rest will follow automatically,” he concluded. With this film, the actor hopes to bridge the gap between historical truth and international accountability.
