West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party while addressing a rally in Kolkata. The Trinamool Congress leader challenged the BJP to target her residence and those of other party leaders, accusing the opposition party of encouraging attacks on its members in the state.
Banerjee’s remarks came after an alleged attack on the residence of state minister Shashi Panja. Speaking at the rally, the chief minister warned that the ruling party would strongly resist any such attempts.
“I challenge the BJP to attack the houses of me and other Trinamool Congress leaders. We know how to resist,” Banerjee said, as she criticised the opposition over the incident.
The remarks added to the ongoing political tensions in the state, with both parties trading accusations amid heightened political activity and public rallies.
