Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in his first public response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, delivered a fierce message to perpetrators of terrorism, warning that India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership will take “chun chun ke badla” — revenge for every life lost, one by one.
Speaking at a public event on Thursday, Shah said those who see cowardly attacks as a victory must understand they are mistaken. “This is Modi’s India. Every drop of blood will be avenged. Our resolve is strong, and our response will be stronger,” he said.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminate terrorism from Indian soil completely. “From every inch of this land, terrorism will be uprooted. There will be no safe haven,” Shah said, also highlighting the global solidarity India enjoys in its fight against terror.
Shah had visited Srinagar on April 23, just a day after the terror strike, where he met with victims’ families, offered condolences, and laid wreaths on the deceased. The Pahalgam attack, which killed 25 tourists and 1 local, has been described as one of the most brutal civilian-targeted incidents in recent memory.
Following the attack, India swiftly escalated diplomatic actions against Pakistan, including cancelling Pakistani citizens’ visas, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty talks, and downgrading ties. The message from Shah’s address further underlines India’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism moving forward.
