Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Maan resigned from the Punjab Legislative Assembly on Saturday, announcing her complete withdrawal from politics. The resignation letter was submitted to Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan. Maan was elected from the Kharar constituency in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.
Announcing her decision, Maan wrote in Punjabi, “With a heavy heart, I have decided to quit politics. My resignation from the post of MLA to the Speaker Sahib should be accepted. My best wishes are with the party. I hope that the Punjab government lives up to the expectations of the people.”
She briefly served as a Cabinet Minister in the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government. During her tenure, she was assigned key portfolios including tourism and culture, investment promotion, labour, and hospitality. However, she was removed from the cabinet in a reshuffle conducted last year.
Before entering politics, Anmol Gagan Maan was known for her career as a Punjabi singer. She gained popularity with songs such as Suit, Ghaint Purpose, and Sherni. She joined AAP ahead of the 2022 elections and became one of the prominent women candidates fielded by the party.
Maan’s resignation came a day after Shiromani Akali Dal’s Kharar candidate Ranjit Singh Gill also announced his resignation from his party. There has been speculation over his future political affiliation, though no official confirmation has been made regarding any switch.
