ED conducts fresh raid at police officer Shantanu Sinha Biswas’ residence in Kandi

Fresh activity by the Enforcement Directorate created tension in Kandi on Tuesday morning after officials conducted another search operation at the residence of police officer Shantanu Sinha Biswas in Jemo’s Biswaspara area. Central forces were deployed around the premises, and heavy security arrangements were put in place during the operation. Multiple vehicles carrying ED officials and security personnel arrived at the residence early in the morning.

The area surrounding the house was cordoned off during the raid, and outsiders were not allowed near the premises. Local residents gathered at a distance as officials entered the mansion-like residence and began the search operation. The latest development comes only days after the ED had earlier conducted a raid at the same residence last Friday.

Sources said Shantanu Sinha Biswas is currently in ED custody in connection with allegations related to financial irregularities and corruption. Investigators are reportedly examining financial transactions, property-related records and other documents linked to the case. The repeated searches at the residence have intensified speculation that officials may have found additional leads during the earlier operation.

During Tuesday’s search, officials reportedly examined documents, electronic devices and financial records for several hours. Multiple rooms inside the residence were searched, while family members present at the house were also questioned by investigators. However, there was no official confirmation regarding the recovery of any specific documents or evidence during the operation.

The latest raid also triggered political reactions in the district. Opposition parties demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the allegations, while sections of the ruling party alleged that central agencies were being used for political purposes. The Enforcement Directorate has not issued any official statement regarding the fresh search operation so far.
