"God will not excuse you": Mamata threatens hospital CEO for not admitting Abhishek | Watch

A viral video has surfaced showing former West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee purportedly berating Pradip Tandon, the CEO of Belle Vue Hospital in Kolkata. The outburst occurred after her nephew, TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, was shifted to the facility following a violent attack in Sonarpur. In the footage, a visibly agitated Mamata can be heard warning the CEO of consequences, accusing him of misleading the family and being influenced by the current BJP-led administration. She reminded the administrator of past favors, stating that "God will not excuse" the hospital's perceived arrogance.

The tension follows a harrowing incident in Sonarpur where Abhishek Banerjee was mobbed while visiting families of post-poll violence victims. The TMC leader was pelted with stones and eggs by a crowd chanting "chor, chor" (thief), eventually requiring a cricket helmet and a human shield from his aides to escape the scene. Abhishek later claimed the attack was a state-sponsored attempt on his life by BJP workers, noting that his security was compromised and the police were largely absent during the melee.

Following the assault, Mamata Banerjee alleged a wider conspiracy, claiming that BJP leaders and senior police officials were actively pressuring hospitals to discharge Abhishek prematurely. She revealed that although he was admitted to the Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) with blood clots and required extensive testing—including a 3D CT scan and thoracic exams—certain medical authorities were being threatened to downplay his condition. Mamata expressed deep distress over the situation at Apollo Hospital, which led to his subsequent transfer to Belle Vue.

Despite the clinical requirements, the TMC chairperson has decided that Abhishek’s recovery will continue at his residence under the supervision of a private family doctor. Necessary medical equipment, including oxygen cylinders, is reportedly being installed at his home to facilitate this transition. The incident has further polarized the political landscape in Bengal, with the TMC accusing the "double-engine" influence of interfering with even the medical professional's ability to provide unbiased care.
