Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday launched a scathing political attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), claiming that its Falta assembly candidate, Jahangir Khan, "ran away" from the upcoming May 21 repoll because he was completely unable to secure any polling agents.
Speaking to reporters while spearheading a high-decibel campaign blitz in the South 24 Parganas district, Adhikari asserted that Khan's sudden decision to pull out of the democratic race was not voluntary but a desperate act of political survival because the ruling-turned-opposition party knew its ground support had entirely vanished.
The Chief Minister's remarks come right after the dramatic withdrawal of Khan, whose exit has left the Trinamool Congress virtually unrepresented in a crucial local bastion ahead of Thursday's high-stakes voting. Adhikari insisted that the political reality on the ground had drastically changed under the new state administration, making it impossible for local strongmen to manipulate the voting process.
