Speaking to reporters after arriving at Bagdogra, the Chief Minister said North Bengal had supported the BJP since 2009 and added that the government would now focus on fulfilling all promises made during the Assembly election campaign. He stated that development work across North Bengal, including the hills, would receive priority attention from the state government. Suvendu said his visit was aimed at reviewing administrative functioning and preparing a roadmap for regional development.
The Chief Minister was received at Bagdogra by Nishith Pramanik, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, and several BJP leaders from the region. He announced that cabinet ministers would also visit North Bengal regularly. According to Suvendu, Uttarkanya would play a larger administrative role from now onward, with weekly review meetings and direct public interactions being conducted there under the supervision of the North Bengal Development Minister.
Suvendu also spoke about law and order during his visit and said the government would maintain a strict approach against extortion, hooliganism, and criminal activities. He stated that Wednesday’s administrative meeting would focus on development projects linked to the tea industry, tourism, and pending central and state government schemes in North Bengal.
