Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, speaking at Dumurjola Helipad Ground before heading to Murshidabad, reiterated her demand for the death penalty. She stated, “I marched in protests demanding the death penalty. Justice must be delivered.” Banerjee is scheduled to address a public rally at Nawab Bahadur Institute Ground in Murshidabad later today, where she is expected to focus on local development initiatives.
Sealdah Court and the surrounding areas have been placed under strict security. A deployment of approximately 500 police personnel includes two Deputy Commissioners, five Assistant Commissioners, 14 Inspectors, 31 Sub-Inspectors, 39 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and 80 female officers. Barricades have been installed, and courtroom access is restricted to individuals authorized by the judge. Additional surveillance measures have been implemented around the court premises to ensure safety.
