Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee did not appear before the CID on Tuesday in connection with the alleged signature forgery case, marking the third consecutive occasion on which he has not complied with a summons issued by the investigating agency. The latest notice had directed him to appear before investigators by 5:00 PM.
According to sources, Abhishek Banerjee sent a written communication to the CID informing the agency that he was currently outside Kolkata and therefore unable to appear in person. In the letter, he reportedly requested additional time from investigators regarding the summons.
The communication also stated that he had already approached the Calcutta High Court in connection with the matter. The information regarding the legal proceedings was reportedly conveyed to the CID as part of his response to the latest notice. Despite the summons and the scheduled appearance deadline, he did not appear before the agency on Tuesday.
