Trump asks Apple CEO not to manufacture in India, says 'they can take care of themselves'
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan made his debut at the Met Gala 2025 on Monday in New York, wearing a custom black ensemble designed by Indian couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The actor was attending The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute benefit gala for the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Khan’s appearance marked the first time a male Bollywood star walked the red carpet at the prestigious fashion event.
Shah Rukh Khan wore an all-black tailored outfit consisting of a structured coat, paired with multiple necklaces from Sabyasachi's latest jewellery collection. He also wore a large medallion with the letter ‘K’ and carried a scepter, which completed his look. The ensemble featured layered accessories, including uncut diamonds and gold detailing. Khan shared a monochrome and a colour photo of his look on Instagram following the event.
In his Instagram caption, Khan thanked Sabyasachi and his team, writing: “Thx @sabyasachiofficial & ur whole team for introducing me to the Met Gala. It’s not my ‘space’ but u made me feel so comfortable…becos u, like me, believe…Style & Fashion…is just being who you are. And all of u made me feel like a ‘K’!” The actor also mentioned that his children were excited about his participation and that he had been nervous ahead of the event.
During a red carpet conversation, hosts introduced Shah Rukh Khan as the first male Bollywood star to debut at the Met Gala and asked him about his feelings. When Khan said he was nervous, the hosts asked whether he felt comfortable walking the red carpet. Designer Sabyasachi intervened and said, “Just to give a little context, Shah Rukh Khan is probably the most famous man in the world and his fan following is legendary. We nearly had a stampede outside the hotel when he came out.” He added, “We wanted to represent Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan and nobody else.”
Fans had gathered in large numbers outside Khan’s New York hotel before the event. While reactions to the look were mixed, many fans praised his choice of attire and symbolism. The event marked Khan’s latest international appearance following a series of recent global engagements. His outfit and public remarks contributed to broader conversations about identity and representation at international cultural platforms.
