Following the official announcement of the rebel candidate list, prominent TMC leader Kunal Ghosh launched a scathing joint offensive against the couple, triggering intense speculation about whether the MLA would follow her husband into the opposition camp.

Responding forcefully to the developing political crisis, Nayna explicitly distanced herself from her husband's executive decisions, categorizing his migration to the NCPI as an entirely personal matter.
