Chowranghee MLA Nayna Bandyopadhyay broke her silence regarding her political future. Her remarks come in the immediate aftermath of a high-profile defection involving her husband, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, who became the twentieth rebel lawmaker to join the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI). Following the official announcement of the rebel candidate list, prominent TMC leader Kunal Ghosh launched a scathing joint offensive against the couple, triggering intense speculation about whether the MLA would follow her husband into the opposition camp.

Responding forcefully to the developing political crisis, Nayna explicitly distanced herself from her husband's executive decisions, categorizing his migration to the NCPI as an entirely personal matter. The Chowranghee legislator strongly rebuked opposition figures and party colleagues alike for dragging her name into the controversy, asserting that her institutional allegiance remains entirely separate from her marital ties. Reaffirming her absolute loyalty to TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, she expressed that she would never abandon her leader, adding emotionally that if she were ever banished from the party, she would be left wandering around like an orphan.

The political confrontation escalated significantly over highly personal remarks made by Kunal Ghosh, who publicly mocked Sudip's last-minute defection by describing it as a "buy one, get one free" deal for the NCPI. Ghosh included Nayna in his critique by taking a dig at her background, derisively alleging that the NCPI was inheriting a "mobile beauty parlor" alongside a "wig-wearing" politician. Condemning Ghosh's statements in the strongest possible terms, Nayna stated that the demeaning public commentary has severely damaged her self-esteem as an elected female representative.
