‘If any language comes under attack, we will stand united against it’: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee delivered a strong message of unity on International Mother Language Day, declaring, “If any language comes under attack, we will stand united against it.” Marking the sacred occasion of Ekushey, she paid tribute to language martyrs across the world and emphasized that all languages deserve equal respect.

In her message, the Chief Minister highlighted the cultural and historical importance of linguistic diversity, noting that Bengal has always upheld respect for every language. She reiterated that her government has recognized multiple languages as official and established language academies to promote and preserve them.

Banerjee stressed that language should be a unifying force rather than a source of division. Reaffirming her commitment to safeguarding linguistic rights, she said the people of the state would collectively resist any attempt to undermine or marginalize any language.
