Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Political tensions over the Beldanga incident intensified further after Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir issued a direct and controversial challenge to the Chief Minister. Kabir said that if even minimal involvement of his in the incident is proven, the Chief Minister herself should order his arrest without delay.
Rejecting all allegations, Kabir claimed he was being targeted through a political conspiracy aimed at defaming him. He asserted that the events in Beldanga were the result of deliberate attempts by certain elements to disturb communal harmony and create unrest in the area.
Stressing his faith in the law, the MLA said he does not support violence or disorder of any kind and demanded a fair and transparent investigation by the administration so that the truth behind the incident comes out clearly.
Kabir also made strong remarks on the use of public funds for religious purposes, stating that government money should not be used to build temples or mosques. He argued that public funds must be prioritised for development, education, healthcare, and employment rather than religious constructions.
Looking ahead, Kabir claimed that JUP’s participation in the next government is certain and said that if the party comes to power, such practices would be stopped. He reiterated his party’s commitment to secularism and constitutional values, promising firm decisions in line with these principles.
