'If terrorism is a rabid dog, Pakistan is its wild handler': Abhishek Banerjee in Japan

During an outreach visit to Japan, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee strongly condemned Pakistan’s alleged state-sponsored support for terrorism, asserting that India will never surrender to fear or extremist threats. Addressing members of the Indian diaspora, Banerjee said the world must unite against the menace of terrorism.

“We are here to share the message that India refuses to bow down,” Banerjee declared. “We will not kneel to fear. I belong to the Opposition, but on national issues like terrorism, we speak in one voice.” His statement came as part of a multi-party parliamentary delegation visiting Japan to engage with the Indian community and promote diplomatic goodwill.

Banerjee further remarked, "If terrorism is a rabid dog, Pakistan is a wild handler." He urged that the international community needs to come together and act firmly before this “wild handler” raises more threats. He emphasized that India’s responses have always been measured, responsible, and non-escalatory.

He added that national security is not a partisan issue and that even as an Opposition leader, he firmly believes in teaching Pakistan a lesson in “the language they understand.”

CPI(M) MP John Brittas, who is also part of the delegation, echoed similar sentiments. “We are from parties with differing ideologies, but we all stand for national interest,” he said. He contrasted India’s democratic values with Pakistan’s theocratic stance, stating that India’s desire to progress is often undermined by Pakistan’s disruptive actions.
