Sujay Krishna Bhadra, widely known as ‘Kalighat Ke Kaku,’ has finally provided his voice sample in connection with the Bengal primary recruitment corruption case. After skipping five previous summons citing health issues, he appeared before the court on the sixth attempt, following a directive from the Calcutta High Court. The voice sample was collected in the judge’s presence, as per legal procedures. The CBI will now compare it with evidence gathered during the investigation.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the alleged multi-crore scam related to irregularities in school recruitment. Officials believe Bhadra’s voice sample could be a critical piece of evidence in verifying recorded communications linked to the case. According to sources, the CBI will begin analyzing the sample from Tuesday to match it with existing data. Before this, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had also attempted to collect his voice sample but faced multiple delays due to his non-compliance.
Bhadra was previously granted bail in an ED-related case but remains in judicial custody. His release was blocked due to separate legal proceedings, and the court imposed strict conditions, including surrendering his passport, appearing in trial court as required, and maintaining a single mobile number. The court had earlier reprimanded SSKM Hospital for its handling of his repeated medical excuses, which had delayed the investigation.
The Bengal recruitment scam has led to multiple arrests of high-profile individuals, with investigators examining financial transactions and alleged bribe exchanges. The case involves alleged irregularities in hiring teachers and non-teaching staff through the state’s School Service Commission (SSC). With Bhadra’s voice sample now in CBI’s possession, further developments in the case are expected as forensic analysis progresses.
