Educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, will not surrender before the Patna Civil Court in connection with the firing and vandalism case linked to his coaching institute, according to his lawyer Arvind Kumar Mavvar. The lawyer stated on Saturday that Khan Sir would pursue legal remedies and that an anticipatory bail petition would be filed on Monday after the deadline for filing such a plea ended on Saturday.
The case relates to violence that erupted outside Khan Global Studies in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat area on June 2. Videos that circulated on social media showed individuals assaulting a security guard, throwing stones and bricks, damaging property and tearing down posters and banners outside the institute. Initial reports suggested firing had taken place during the incident, prompting a police investigation.
Patna Police later named Khan Sir in the FIR registered in connection with the case. Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma confirmed that Khan Sir had been questioned as part of the investigation. On Friday, he was booked under charges including attempted murder and provisions of the Arms Act related to the shooting incident.
Police arrested Roshan Anand, operator of Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute, identifying him as the main accused in the vandalism case. Authorities said they are examining the roles of all individuals involved and the circumstances that led to the clash between the groups. Preliminary findings had indicated that the dispute may have been linked to rivalry between coaching institutes in the area.
A major development came when two security guards associated with Khan Global Studies were arrested and sent to judicial custody. Police action followed the circulation of a video that allegedly showed the guards firing shots during the incident. According to investigators, one of the guards allegedly admitted to opening fire. The weapons allegedly used in the incident have been sent for forensic examination, while Khan Sir’s legal team has described the FIR against him as an attempt to frame and defame him.
