Writer and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap has revealed that she is battling breast cancer for the second time, seven years after overcoming it initially. In a heartfelt Instagram post on World Health Day, the 42-year-old shared her determination to fight back, calling her diagnosis “Round 2” and reaffirming, “But I got this.”
Kashyap, known for her candid and empowering approach to personal challenges, used the moment to promote breast cancer awareness and the importance of regular screenings. “#regularscreening #mammogram not shying away from saying it,” she wrote, alongside a smiling photo of herself. Her message also carried hashtags like #gratitude and #letsgo, reflecting her resilient mindset.
Tahira was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. At the time, she underwent a mastectomy and openly documented her healing journey. Her choice to embrace baldness during chemotherapy, without hiding behind wigs, resonated with many and turned her into a voice of strength in India’s cancer awareness space.
She has since advocated for body positivity, showing off her surgery scars and encouraging people to see illness as just another chapter—not a stigma. Her social media campaigns have often stressed self-love, acceptance, and the power of vulnerability.
In a past interview with Filmfare, Tahira recalled how her parents struggled with her decision to post a bald photo after her diagnosis. “A bald look for a woman is somehow synonymous with disaster,” she said, adding that her family urged her to take the photo down. But she stood her ground, choosing to celebrate her fight rather than hide it.
Known for directing Sharmaji Ki Beti and her work as a writer, Tahira is also the wife of Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana. While the latest diagnosis comes as a personal challenge, her message to fans and followers remains clear: face life with courage, speak openly, and never underestimate the power of early detection.
