Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Posters demanding that Chirag Paswan be made the next chief minister of Bihar have appeared across Patna, intensifying political speculation amid discussions about Chief Minister Nitish Kumar possibly moving to the Rajya Sabha.
The posters, reportedly put up by members of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), carry slogans urging that Paswan be chosen to lead the state. One message reads: “No riots, no disturbances, only Chirag should be the chief minister of Bihar,” projecting him as a young leader capable of bringing what supporters describe as a “golden age” for the state.
According to the posters, which were installed by party district president Imam Ghazali, Paswan enjoys the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The posters also refer to Paswan as Modi’s “Hanuman” and claim that the National Democratic Alliance would form the government in Bihar with him as its chief ministerial face.
Leaders from the party have earlier voiced support for Paswan’s leadership in the state. Jamui MP Arun Bharti, who is also Paswan’s brother-in-law, had previously said he would like to see Paswan as Bihar’s chief minister, though he noted that such a decision would be taken collectively by the ruling alliance.
Speculation about Bihar’s next chief minister has intensified following talk of Nitish Kumar’s anticipated nomination to the Rajya Sabha. Several names from the ruling alliance are being discussed as potential successors, including deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai, BJP leader Nitish Mishra, and JD(U) leaders Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Shrawon Kumar.
