Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
President Droupadi Murmu, during her visit to Siliguri, expressed dissatisfaction over the arrangements made for her programme and raised concerns about protocol lapses. She pointed out that neither the chief minister nor any senior minister or top administrative official from the state government was present to receive her upon arrival, which is usually expected as part of official protocol.
The President also questioned the last-minute change of the meeting venue, suggesting that the shift may have affected public participation. She noted that the turnout at the event was lower than expected and remarked that it appeared the venue had been changed in a way that made it difficult for people to attend.
During her address, Murmu said she considers herself closely connected to the state and described herself as “a daughter of Bengal.” Referring indirectly to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, she commented that it seemed as though the chief minister might be upset with her. The developments are likely to intensify political debate between the state government and opposition leaders.
