Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday intensified his campaign in West Bengal, launching a sharp attack on the former Manmohan Singh-led government while also warning of strict action against alleged infiltrators in the state. Addressing a public gathering, Shah claimed that the previous UPA government, supported by Mamata Banerjee’s party, failed to take firm action against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and instead adopted a lenient approach.
Contrasting this with the current government, Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded decisively to terror incidents, citing “Operation Sindoor” after the Pahalgam attack as an example of strong action. He further asserted that if voted to power in Bengal, his party would undertake a comprehensive drive to identify and expel infiltrators, alleging that they were taking away jobs and resources meant for locals. Issuing a direct warning, Shah said such individuals should be prepared to leave the state starting from the evening of May 5.
