Astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, India's first astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS), has safely returned to Earth from his historic Axiom-4 mission, prompting a wave of national pride and congratulations from top leadership. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes, stating, "I join the nation in welcoming Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla as he returns to Earth from his historic mission to Space. As India’s first astronaut to have visited the International Space Station, he has inspired a billion dreams through his dedication, courage, and pioneering spirit." The Prime Minister further emphasized that this milestone marks another crucial step towards India’s own Human Space Flight Mission, Gaganyaan.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh echoed the sentiment, calling Group Captain Shukla’s successful return "a proud moment for every Indian." Singh highlighted that Shukla has "not just touched space, he has lifted India’s aspirations to new heights," affirming that his journey to the ISS and back is a significant stride for India’s burgeoning space ambitions. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh also hailed the event as a "moment of glory for India," celebrating the successful voyage of "one of our illustrious sons."

The emotional homecoming was particularly poignant for Shubhanshu Shukla's mother, Asha Shukla, who expressed profound relief and gratitude. In tears, she shared, "My son has safely returned. I thank God, you all who have covered the event. I got emotional, after all, my son has returned after many days." Group Captain Shukla's 18-day mission aboard the ISS saw him conducting numerous scientific experiments, contributing vital data for India's future human spaceflight endeavors, and reinforcing India's growing presence in global space exploration.
