Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has sharply criticized the four and a half years of leadership under Hemant Soren, claiming that his own six-month tenure was far more effective in terms of development and welfare initiatives. "My 6 months of work outweigh Hemant’s four and a half years," Soren stated, emphasizing that the work he completed during his brief time in office had a more significant impact on the people of Jharkhand compared to the extended term of the current government.
One of the key accomplishments highlighted by Soren was the Maiya Samman Yojana, a welfare program aimed at providing financial aid to women in the state. The scheme was introduced under his leadership to empower women, especially in rural areas, by offering them financial support. In addition, Soren noted the introduction of 200 free units of electricity for households across the state. This initiative, aimed at easing the financial burden on families, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, was seen as a major step toward ensuring that basic utilities were accessible to all.
Soren also raised concerns about the demographic changes in Santhal Pargana, a region known for its significant tribal population. According to Soren, the tribal population in the area was declining at an alarming rate, which could pose a threat to the region’s cultural identity and traditions. He emphasized that this issue needed immediate attention from the government, as it impacted the very survival of tribal communities. The decline in population, Soren suggested, could also undermine the region’s social fabric and heritage.
Another major issue Soren discussed was the infiltration of non-tribal individuals into Santhal Pargana. He accused the Hemant Soren-led government and its allies in the Grand Alliance of failing to address the growing problem of illegal migration into tribal areas. According to Soren, this infiltration posed a direct threat to the rights and livelihood of the indigenous tribal population. He criticized the current government for its silence on the matter, claiming that none of the parties within the alliance had raised concerns or taken concrete steps to address the issue. He called on voters to support a government that would take strong action against such infiltration and safeguard the interests of the indigenous communities.
Soren also discussed the safety and dignity of tribal women, claiming that under the current government, tribal women were increasingly vulnerable to exploitation by outsiders. He alleged that the government had failed to protect them, leading to repeated violations of their dignity. Soren expressed that the BJP, if given the opportunity to govern, would ensure that such exploitation would come to an end and that tribal women would be safeguarded. He further stated that the BJP was the only party capable of addressing the issues of tribal communities and providing them with the respect and protection they deserved.
Soren’s remarks were made in the context of the upcoming state elections, where he has been campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He believes that the BJP is best suited to address the long-standing issues facing the tribal population of Jharkhand and ensure that the state moves toward greater development and welfare for all its citizens.
