“My journey in Bengal is far from over”: Governor CV Ananda Bose pens open letter

As his tenure at Raj Bhavan draws to a close, West Bengal Governor Dr CV Ananda Bose has written an open letter to the people of the state expressing gratitude for their support and affection during his time in office. In the message addressed to the “people of West Bengal,” he thanked citizens for the warmth and consideration they extended to him throughout his tenure in Kolkata.

Reflecting on his experiences over the past three years, Bose said he would cherish the moments spent interacting with people across the state. He recalled meeting citizens from different walks of life — from affectionate gestures by ordinary people to engaging with young scholars and intellectuals — describing the interactions as deeply meaningful.

The outgoing Governor said that although his formal term is coming to an end, his association with the state will continue. Calling West Bengal his “second home,” he said his journey with the state is far from over and that he hopes to remain connected with its people in the future.

In his message, Bose also invoked the words of Mahatma Gandhi, who had once said he could not leave Bengal because the land would not let him go. Quoting Rabindranath Tagore, he reflected on finding inspiration among ordinary people — from farmers in the fields to workers building roads — and said the spirit of the state’s people left a lasting impression on him.

Concluding the letter, the Governor expressed hope that the people of West Bengal would continue to reach greater heights. He wished prosperity and good health for all citizens and ended his message with a prayer for the protection of the people by Goddess Durga, signing off with “Vande Mataram.”
