Kolkata Municipal Corporation board dissolved, Smita Pandey takes charge as 'administrator'
Police have discovered a locked “mysterious room” inside the Sahapur Colony flat of former state minister Aroop Biswas and his brother Swaroop Biswas during a search operation. The room is secured with a digital locking system, and officials are currently attempting to gain access.
On Monday, Swaroop Biswas, who had been arrested earlier, was taken by police to the residence for a detailed search. During the operation, he was unable to provide the passcode required to unlock the digitally secured room. A locksmith was also called to assist, but the lock could not be opened.
Police officials conducted the search operation at the Bhowanipore Sahapur Colony residence for several hours with a large team present. Following the discovery of the locked room, investigators attempted multiple methods to open it, but access remained restricted. Authorities are now exploring further technical options to open the room.
Meanwhile, Aroop Biswas has not appeared before the police in connection with the ongoing investigation and is being searched for by authorities. Swaroop Biswas faces multiple allegations, including extortion, financial fraud, misuse of political influence, land grabbing, sexual harassment, and Arms Act violations, as the investigation continues.
