Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has shared his views ahead of the much-anticipated India versus Pakistan clash in the ongoing T20 World Cup, scheduled for February 15 in Colombo. Calling it a marquee World Cup fixture, Ganguly said Pakistan would find it difficult to overcome a strong Indian side in the high-pressure encounter.
Speaking on the contest, Ganguly said India are a very good team and stressed that defeating them would not be easy. He described the India-Pakistan match as one of the biggest attractions of the tournament and expressed confidence in India’s overall balance and form heading into the game.
Ganguly also welcomed Pakistan’s decision to take the field against India after an initial standoff, stating that sports and politics should remain separate. He said the match taking place was good for the game and hoped Pakistan would put up a strong performance to ensure a competitive contest rather than a one-sided affair.
Commenting on the tournament so far, Ganguly said the T20 World Cup has begun on an exciting note, with no team appearing out of place. He praised the competitiveness shown by several sides and named Abhishek Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan as his favourite players in the current Indian squad.
India began their campaign with a convincing win over the USA and are set to face Namibia on February 12 before the high-stakes clash against Pakistan. The Men in Blue will then conclude their group-stage matches against the Netherlands, carrying momentum and confidence into the decisive phase of the tournament.
