BJP leader and former West Bengal state president Dilip Ghosh did not attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Durgapur on Friday, July 18. Instead, Ghosh flew to Delhi in the morning. He was seen at Kolkata Airport, where he confirmed to reporters that he would not be present at the Durgapur event.
Ghosh stated, “The workers had called me, so I said yes. The party didn’t invite me. Maybe the party doesn’t want me to go. It might cause discomfort. So I’m not going to Durgapur. I’m going to Delhi for important work — party work.” His remarks came just before boarding the flight, indicating that he had made the decision based on the lack of communication from the party.
In the days leading up to the rally, there had been uncertainty about whether Ghosh would attend. While he had earlier expressed interest in joining the event, BJP’s state president Sukanta Majumdar had stated on Thursday that Dilip Ghosh would be travelling to Delhi instead for discussions with the central leadership.
