Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The controversy around Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke has intensified after a Muslim organisation issued a fatwa against actor Nora Fatehi, citing objections to alleged obscene visuals and dance moves in the song. The directive, issued by a cleric in Uttar Pradesh, urged people to avoid promoting such content and called for responsible filmmaking.
The development comes alongside action by the National Commission for Women, which has summoned Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt and lyricist Raqueeb Alam over allegations of obscenity. The commission said the song appears sexually suggestive and may violate provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the IT Act and the POCSO Act.
Amid the backlash, Nora Fatehi issued a clarification stating that she had originally shot the song in Kannada three years ago and was unaware of the final Hindi adaptation. She claimed the Hindi version, including lyrics and visuals, was created without her approval and that she had distanced herself from the project upon seeing it.
The controversy has sparked a wider debate on artistic freedom, censorship and accountability in entertainment, with criticism continuing from multiple quarters over the song’s content.
