Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana, emphasizing the critical role of democracy, the need for a stronger voice for the Global South, and the urgency of global reforms. During his landmark visit to the West African nation – the first by an Indian Prime Minister in over three decades – PM Modi declared, "A strong India will contribute to more stable and prosperous world," underscoring his push for collective progress through the empowerment of the Global South.

In his address, PM Modi highlighted India's robust economic growth, calling it "the fastest-growing emerging economy." He confidently stated that India is poised to become the world's third-largest economy, driven by its stable polity and good governance. The Prime Minister's visit to Ghana is a significant diplomatic endeavor aimed at deepening the partnership between the two nations, which have historically shared strong ties. Earlier in his visit, PM Modi was also conferred with "The Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana," the country's national honor, a testament to the strengthening bilateral relations.

The discussions during PM Modi's visit also touched upon global issues, with both leaders agreeing on the need for UN reforms and stressing that "this is not the era of war; problems should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy." India and Ghana have also elevated their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, with agreements signed across various sectors including cultural exchange, standardization, and traditional medicine. This visit underscores India's commitment to strengthening its engagement with Africa and its Global South partners, reinforcing bonds of friendship and exploring new avenues for cooperation.
