Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A fresh political controversy erupted after BJP MP Kangana Ranaut launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of inappropriate conduct in Parliament and claiming that his behaviour makes women uncomfortable.
Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Ranaut alleged that Rahul Gandhi behaves in a disrespectful manner, often interrupting others and using informal language. “We women feel very uncomfortable seeing him… he comes like a ‘tapori’ and addresses people disrespectfully,” she said, escalating the ongoing political row.
Her remarks come in the backdrop of a controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s recent appearance at the Makar Dwar entrance of Parliament, where he was seen having tea and biscuits with fellow MPs during a protest. The incident has drawn criticism from a group of former bureaucrats, veterans and legal professionals, who have written an open letter seeking an apology.
The signatories, led by former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid, termed the conduct “concerning” and argued that it does not align with the responsibilities of the Leader of Opposition. They stressed that Parliament requires decorum and seriousness, and alleged that such actions undermine the dignity of the institution.
Ranaut also suggested that Rahul Gandhi should take cues from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, praising her public conduct. The controversy has added to the ongoing political sparring between the ruling party and the Opposition during the Budget Session.
