BJP leader Dilip Ghosh responded to India’s recent military retaliation against Pakistan, comparing the nation's actions to a strategic shift in warfare. He stated, “First, arrangements were made to hit with rice, and now, it’s time to hit with hands.” Ghosh’s remark refers to the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, with India recently launching attacks on key Pakistani positions as part of its retaliation. According to Ghosh, the government, backed by the military, has the responsibility to defend the nation, and he emphasized the importance of public support during such times. He further stressed that the safety and property of citizens must be ensured while raising awareness among the people about national security.
He also pointed out that while the specifics of where and when a war might occur are uncertain, ordinary citizens must remain vigilant and prepared. "If there’s war, it happens in every country," Ghosh added, citing examples such as Israel, where citizens are often seen in combat-ready situations even during their routine activities, like cooking while carrying firearms. His comments reflect the growing concern over the nation's preparedness in the face of external threats, urging the government to protect both civilian lives and infrastructure.
Apart from his remarks on national security, Dilip Ghosh also raised concerns about corruption in the state of West Bengal, specifically regarding recruitment processes. Ghosh reiterated his demand for justice, stating that those responsible for corruption must be punished, and those who have been deprived of their rightful opportunities should receive due compensation. He criticized the current governance in the state, highlighting how Mamata Banerjee’s initial image as a leader with a “clean” track record has now been overshadowed by ongoing corruption scandals. Ghosh pointed out that despite the promise of integrity, it is Mamata’s administration that has been involved in significant corrupt practices.
The BJP leader’s comments on corruption focused on the administration's failure to act against such wrongdoing, stating that “court is the only path left.” Ghosh's statement highlights his frustration with the lack of accountability within the state government. His remarks are in line with BJP’s ongoing efforts to challenge Mamata Banerjee’s leadership and expose alleged malpractices in her governance.
In addition to his political commentary, Ghosh's recent public appearance with his wife, Rinku Majumdar, during the inauguration of the Jagannath Temple in Digha had garnered significant attention. The photograph of the couple with Mamata Banerjee, which went viral, fueled speculation about Ghosh's future in the BJP and rumors of a possible shift to the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Despite these rumors, Ghosh has firmly denied any such intentions, asserting his commitment to remaining within the BJP. This marks another chapter in the ongoing political discourse in West Bengal, with Ghosh’s position in the state BJP continuing to draw interest.
