Flames rip through illegal warehouse in Burrabazar | Watch Taaza TV's report
Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has made sharp political remarks ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026, alleging that the Election Commission, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and Aam Janata Unnayan Party chief Humayun Kabir are acting as “agents of the BJP” in Murshidabad. He claimed the trio is attempting to disturb communal harmony in the region.
Addressing a public gathering, Banerjee alleged that all three entities are working in coordination to create unrest in Murshidabad. He stated that, “In Murshidabad, there are three BJP agents — the Election Commission, Adhir Chowdhury, and Humayun Kabir. All three are trying to create unrest in the area and disturb harmony.” His remarks added further intensity to the ongoing political exchanges in the poll-bound state.
He further escalated his attack by linking ideological politics over religious issues, stating that both the BJP and Humayun Kabir were engaging in divisive politics. He said that while one side uses the Ram Mandir narrative, the other uses the Babri Masjid issue, claiming there was “no fundamental difference” between their political approach.
Earlier also, Banerjee had accused Adhir Chowdhury and Humayun Kabir of having a political understanding with the BJP and questioned their security arrangements. In response, Adhir Chowdhury rejected the allegations and made counter-claims regarding threats to his life, while Humayun Kabir dismissed the controversy as a fabricated “AI-generated” video and threatened legal action over defamation.
