BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Launching a strong political attack ahead of the Assembly elections, Anurag Singh Thakur on Saturday alleged that the All India Trinamool Congress represents “Terror, Murder and Crime,” accusing the ruling party of fostering corruption and lawlessness in West Bengal. Speaking after arriving at Bagdogra Airport, Thakur made the remarks before departing for Islampur.
Thakur claimed that corruption, exploitation, and mafia activities have reached alarming levels in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He alleged that over the past 15 years, crimes against women have increased and the situation for the youth has deteriorated, raising serious concerns about governance and public safety.
Referring to the recent Malda incident, he termed it part of a larger conspiracy rather than an isolated event, questioning the state’s law and order situation. He also alleged that scams involving thousands of crores have taken place, with significant amounts of cash reportedly recovered from the residences of ministers, and accused the state government of obstructing investigative agencies and intimidating Election Commission officials.
Raising questions over the ruling party’s election strategy, Thakur pointed to the denial of tickets to 74 MLAs and the reshuffling of 15 candidates as signs of internal instability. He also flagged concerns over voter list deletions, alleging illegal infiltration and questioning the legitimacy of certain voters. Despite his criticism, he appealed for peaceful elections and urged all sides to maintain calm after the polls.
