Another KMC councillor, Biswajit Mondal arrested, after woman alleges molestation and threats
Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has made a startling prediction regarding the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, claiming that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will fail to even reach a triple-digit seat count. Speaking at a high-voltage rally, Adhikari asserted that the political tide in Bengal has turned decisively, suggesting that the ruling party is facing an unprecedented collapse in public support.
He emphasized that the era of TMC's dominance is drawing to a close, with voters ready to embrace a "clean and corruption-free" alternative. Adhikari expressed immense confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on track to form the next government in West Bengal with a thumping majority. He previously pegged the party's potential victory at 177 seats out of 294, but his latest rhetoric suggests an even more lopsided result.
According to the BJP leader, the saffron wave that began in his stronghold of Purba Medinipur has now transformed into a "political storm" that is sweeping through other critical districts, including South 24 Parganas, which has traditionally been a TMC bastion.
