Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar earned Rs 16.57 crore at the domestic box office on its first Saturday. With its fourth day collection, the film earned a total of Rs 53.16 crore. The Luv Ranjan-directed romcom opened at Rs 15.73 crore on Wednesday, March 8, with Rs 10.3 crore on its second day and Rs 10.52 crore on its third day, Friday.
According to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is reportedly doing well in the national chains but is underperforming in the mass circuits.
Taking to Twitter, Adarsh took to Twitter to break down the film's daily numbers and wrote, “#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar puts up a solid show on day 4… National chains see 68.93% jump while mass circuits grow marginally… Eyes ₹ 70 cr+ total in 5 days *extended* weekend… Wed 15.73 kr, Thu 10.34 kr, Fri 10.52 kr, Sat 16.57 kr. Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar is Ranbir and Shraddha's first big screen collaboration and is produced by Luv Films and Ankur Garg. It is presented by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The film also features Anubhav Singh Bassi and Dimple Kapadia.
Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, opposite Alia Bhatt. The film also featured Amitabh Bachchan and a cameo from Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, it was a blockbuster. Meanwhile, Shraddha was last seen in the 2018 horror-comedy film Stree.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar was released worldwide on the occasion of Holi, March 8, 2023.
