Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared a video from the Lok Sabha showing women opposition MPs moving towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chair amid chaos on February 4, a day when the House was abruptly adjourned minutes before the PM was scheduled to speak. The visuals have reignited a political row over events that unfolded during the motion of thanks to the President’s address.
Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had said he advised the Prime Minister to skip the session after receiving information that opposition MPs were planning to create a confrontation near the PM’s seat. Rijiju’s video, posted on social media, shows disorder in the House and opposition women MPs advancing towards the Treasury benches during the disruption.
Reacting to the footage, Rijiju alleged that the conduct of Congress MPs crossed parliamentary limits and claimed that BJP members were restrained to prevent escalation. He said allowing a confrontation could have led to a “very ugly scene” and asserted that steps were taken to protect the dignity and sanctity of Parliament.
The Congress, however, has maintained that its MPs followed parliamentary norms and described the protest as peaceful. Opposition leaders have questioned the allegations and indicated they may move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker, as the political confrontation over the February 4 incident continues.
