Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday held the second edition of his ‘Janata Darbar’ at the BJP state office in Salt Lake, where people from different sections of society gathered to submit grievances directly to the administration. Teachers, nurses, Group D employees and families allegedly affected by post-poll violence attended the public hearing session, with many claiming they had earlier failed to receive assistance from police or administrative authorities. Due to the large crowd outside the office premises, security arrangements were tightened and entry was regulated.
Earlier in the day, Adhikari visited the Shiva temple in Lake Town and interacted with devotees before arriving at the BJP office around 11 am. BJP leader Locket Chatterjee accompanied him during the grievance hearing programme. Sources stated that memorandums and written complaints were submitted directly to the Chief Minister during the session.
Among those who attended was unemployed teacher Suman Biswas, who appealed to the government to restore confidence among job aspirants who had lost employment. After meeting the Chief Minister, Biswas said the new administration should provide transparency and reassurance regarding recruitment and employment issues. He also stated that many dismissed teachers were seeking a clear message from the government regarding future recruitment and anti-corruption measures.
An elderly couple, including octogenarian Prabir Mukhopadhyay, also attended the programme alleging housing fraud linked to a residential project. Mukhopadhyay claimed that despite surrendering ancestral property for the project, his family did not receive the promised flat. Family members stated that they sought administrative assistance during the Janata Darbar and received assurances regarding their complaint.
According to sources, the Chief Minister plans to continue holding the Janata Darbar every Monday, with prior registration expected to be mandatory for participants. After concluding Monday’s session around noon, Adhikari reportedly left for Nabanna, where meetings with departmental secretaries and senior police officials were scheduled. BJP leaders stated that similar public grievance sessions may continue regularly as part of direct administrative outreach initiatives.
