Tension flared in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly after BJP’s women members tried to raise a motion regarding alleged verbal abuse of the Inspector-in-Charge (IC) of Bolpur over phone. However, the motion was turned down by the Speaker, leading to protests from the opposition benches.
BJP MLA from Fulbari, Shikha Chatterjee, expressed her dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s decision and warned that the issue was far from over. “We will raise this question the day the Chief Minister is present in the House. The people of Bengal deserve accountability on this matter,” she said, indicating the party’s plan to mount pressure on the ruling government.
