Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' entered its second day, recommencing from Sekmai, Imphal West, as part of the party's pre-Lok Sabha election activities. Gandhi, interacting with the public, expressed his goal of restoring peace to Manipur. The yatra, spanning over 6,700 km, commenced in violence-stricken Manipur.
Rahul Gandhi also said he “wants to bring peace back to Manipur.”
Beginning the day's journey in a custom-made Volvo bus, Gandhi also took the opportunity to walk part of the route, engaging with people and inquiring about their concerns. Enthusiastic crowds, predominantly comprising women and children, lined the Yatra route, cheering Gandhi along as the bus traversed various busy areas. During the rally marking the commencement of the yatra, both Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur amidst ethnic violence, pledging to seek justice for the affected population.
