"We withdraw the agitation in good faith," says CJP after Centre accepts key demands

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday announced the withdrawal of its month-long protest at Jantar Mantar after the Centre accepted its key demands, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Following talks with the government, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the government had accepted all the protesters' demands after 36 days of agitation and urged demonstrators to peacefully leave the protest sites. Chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the organisation was withdrawing the agitation in good faith, with the understanding that the agreed terms would be implemented within the stipulated timelines.

The announcement came hours after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister, taking moral responsibility for the alleged NEET paper leak controversy. Union Minister J.P. Nadda said the government would take steps to withdraw FIRs against peaceful protesters and provide financial compensation, in accordance with the rules, to the families of students who died by suicide following the alleged NEET paper leak.

The CJP had been protesting at Jantar Mantar since June 20, demanding Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over the alleged examination irregularities. The movement gained momentum after Sonam Wangchuk joined the protest with an indefinite hunger strike on June 28, leading to talks between the Centre and the organisation before the announcement of the protest's withdrawal.
