Mamata Banerjee on Monday declared that rebel leaders would not be readmitted to the Trinamool Congress, endorsing Abhishek Banerjee's appeal during the party's Martyrs' Day programme. Addressing the gathering, she said, "We won't take them back. Absolutely not," and reiterated that those who had left the party should join the BJP instead. Earlier, Abhishek Banerjee had urged the party leadership not to readmit any dissident leaders if they sought to return.
Speaking at the rally, Mamata Banerjee criticised the rebel camp and said, "Instead of pretending otherwise or acting for the BJP, just go to the BJP." She also stated, "We are better off. The thieves have gone to the BJP." Her remarks came amid separate Martyrs' Day programmes organised by rival Trinamool factions.
The information also states that the rival camp continued its criticism of the Trinamool leadership. Madan Mitra, who recently joined the Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction, again targeted Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee, urging Mamata Banerjee to leave Abhishek Banerjee and join their camp while claiming she would be welcomed.
