No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday launched a sharp political attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning the outcome of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. In a strongly worded remark, Kejriwal alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party had taken control of key institutions and influenced voter lists, asking what would happen if the party still failed to secure victory in the state.
The comment comes at a time when political tensions in West Bengal are escalating ahead of the two-phase Assembly elections scheduled for April 23 and April 29, with counting set for May 4. The electoral environment has been marked by intense exchanges between major political parties, particularly over allegations related to voter list revisions and the functioning of institutions involved in the election process.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee has also raised concerns over the deletion of voter names, alleging large-scale irregularities and asserting that such decisions would be reversed if his party returns to power. These claims have added to the ongoing political debate over electoral transparency and fairness in the state.
On the other hand, the BJP has continued its aggressive campaign push, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah outlining key promises for the state, including the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, action against infiltration, and the formation of a commission to investigate political violence. As campaigning intensifies, sharp exchanges between leaders across parties are expected to continue, further heightening the stakes in the closely watched Bengal elections.
