1 dead, 5 injured as speeding bike crashes into toto in South 24 Pgs late night

A fatal road accident in Jaynagar late Monday night left one person dead and five others injured after a high-speed motorcycle collided with a toto (e-rickshaw). The incident occurred around 11:30 PM near Rath Tala crossing, triggering panic in the area and prompting immediate police intervention.

According to initial information, residents from Durgapur and Mitri Para were returning home from Jaynagar Railway Station in the toto when a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction reportedly lost control and rammed into the vehicle. The impact was severe, leading to the death of the motorcycle rider on the spot, while another rider and five toto passengers sustained serious injuries.

Police from Jaynagar station reached the scene swiftly and rescued the injured, who were taken to nearby Spandan and Satyajit Nursing Homes for treatment. Due to the critical condition of two victims—one toto passenger and one bike rider—they were later referred to a hospital in Kolkata for advanced care.

Authorities have seized both the damaged motorcycle and the toto and initiated an investigation into the exact cause of the accident. Local inputs suggest that overspeeding may have played a key role, with some residents claiming the motorcyclist had been riding recklessly in the area shortly before the crash.
