1 dead as massive avalanche hits upper reaches of Gulmarg in J&K

One person was killed while another sustained serious injuries after a massive avalanche hit Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. According to details, two more people are believed to be trapped in the avalanche. Rescue operations are currently underway in the area.

According to details, the avalanche hit the upper reaches of Gulmarg ski resort. An avalanche hit the remote Paddar area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Friday (January 27). However, no casualties were reported.

Officials said the administration has issued an avalanche warning in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The avalanche swept into a river near a village in the Mechail belt, but there was no damage as the village was outside the area, they said.
