Protests are going on with demands of severe punishment for rapists and speedy trials. However, it doesn't seem to bother the criminals. Recently, a new sexual assault case has been reported, and that too from Kolkata which is now the epicenter of protests for RG Kar's rape and murder case.
As per police reports, on August 26th, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused in Kolkata's Haridevpur area near Tollygunge. After the victim's family filed a report, police arrested the accused, who was identified as Uttam Dey.
A case has been filed under the POCSO Act and other sections and an investigation has been launched. Locals say that the incident took place during Janmashtami celebrations when the accused, who was the neighbor of the victim, took her in the name of showing her puja.
