10-year-old killed, two injured by tractor in Bengal

A devastating accident in the Khardahil village of Sahajadpur, Jangipur claimed the life of a 10-year-old school student and left two other students injured when they were run over by an out-of-control tractor. The tragic incident occurred while the children stood by the roadside, unaware of the impending danger.

The deceased has been identified as Shamim Ansari, a 10-year-old fifth-grade student from Khardahil Junior High School. The injured students are Rahul Ansari, 13, an eighth-grader, and Yasin Ansari, 12, a fourth-grade student at a local madrasa. All three hailed from the same village, Gajol in Shahjadpur, and were standing together near the road when the accident occurred.

According to family accounts, the accident happened as the tractor was maneuvering a turn while unloading paddy. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off course and crush the children under its wheels. Horrified bystanders rushed to their aid and immediately transported them to Gajol State General Hospital. Tragically, Shamim Ansari was declared dead upon arrival by the medical team on duty.

The two injured boys are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Doctors have reported that while their injuries are serious, they are currently stable and under close observation.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the tight-knit village community, with grieving family members demanding accountability for the reckless driving that led to this avoidable loss of life.
