A case has been registered against 12 individuals in Solapur district, Maharashtra, for allegedly assaulting stand-up comedian Pranit More after he made jokes about actor Veer Pahariya. The incident took place on Sunday following More’s performance at a local restaurant. According to the police complaint, a group of 10 to 12 individuals confronted the comedian after his performance, upset by the jokes targeting Pahariya. The attackers allegedly physically assaulted More, repeatedly punching and kicking him, causing injuries.
The police complaint states that one of the attackers, identified as Tanveer Shaikh, threatened More, warning him not to make further jokes about Pahariya. The group reportedly expressed their intention to silence the comedian due to his remarks about the actor. More’s social media posts later described the assault as brutal, with the comedian detailing how he was left injured after being attacked by the group.
Following the assault, the owner of the restaurant where More performed filed a complaint with the police. This led to the registration of a case against the attackers. Although Solapur police summoned More to record his statement regarding the incident, he did not appear for the questioning. As a result, the police proceeded with the investigation based on the complaint filed by the restaurant owner.
Veer Pahariya, the grandson of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde and a recent actor in Sky Force, issued a statement condemning the attack. He clarified that he had no involvement in the assault and expressed his shock and disappointment over the incident. Pahariya emphasized his stance against violence, stating that he would never support harm toward anyone, especially not a fellow member of the creative industry.
The Solapur police are continuing their investigation into the matter. Authorities are working to identify the assailants and gather more evidence related to the attack. Police have not disclosed any additional details about the injuries sustained by More or the progress of the investigation.
