CM Mamata pushes Aparajita Bill as TMC MPs urge President’s approval
On the morning of January 23, poor visibility caused by dense fog led to the diversion of 12 flights scheduled to land at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The diversions began at 7:36 AM IST, with several flights from cities including Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Dubai being rerouted to nearby airports due to low visibility. The disruptions persisted for several hours, causing delays and affecting both domestic and international operations.
The majority of the diverted flights were sent to Bhubaneswar, which received a total of six flights. Ranchi, Chennai, and Shamshabad were also used as diversion destinations for the remaining flights. Airlines including IndiGo, Air India, AirAsia, and Air Arabia were involved in the diversions, with passengers accommodated at these alternate airports. The affected flights included a mix of inbound and outbound services from Kolkata, and airport officials indicated that the low visibility situation was being closely monitored. Passengers were advised to check for further updates with their airlines.
As of now, no specific timeline has been given for when normal operations will resume, as weather conditions remain unstable. Kolkata airport authorities have coordinated with airlines to manage the situation and minimize further disruptions. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their airlines for updates on revised flight schedules and expected arrivals. Below is the complete list of diverted flights:
